You guys remember my latest contest? The one I did about two years ago... something along that time frame.

So here's the second contest. This one is a little different, as in it deals with the protagonists, not the antagonists. Yeah... Um... I'm working on the manga. I have some characters, but not enough to start it...

Manga Overview:

The Black Palette is based around a group of people with... Well... I'll write a detailed review, I'm having a brain dead moment, later.

Basically it's about this group of people gifted with special powers, trying to prevent the world from falling into the hands of similar people with tainted powers. These powers happen to be the five(plus one) sacred elements/powers/gifts of Chinese folklore. You know. Fire, Water, Air, Earth, and Metal. And I added creation.

Each of these categories was divided into sub-categories(different backstory). Each power can only be used once, so to prevent any confusion, here comes an incredibly dull list of all the character powers I have done. The protagonists come first, then the antagonists.

Heroes:
-Fire
-Water
-Ice
-Earth
-Ability Control (can turn abilities on/off like a light)
-Ability mimicry


Villians:
-Lightning
-Air
-Light Speed Movement (The Flash, but better)
-Paper Manipulation
-Creation
-Darkness
-Manipulation
-intangibility

So those are the abilities that are already taken and cannot be used...

Here are some simple rules that must be followed:
1) The character must be a protagonist. No antagonists allowed, unless cleared by me IN THIS JOURNAL
2) The character cannot have any of the abilities listed above
3) Entries must be colored, or B&W shaded. NO LINEART ALLOWED
4) A name must be given to the character.
5) A small bio, including the person's personality and quirks, must be included in the artist's comments
6) Have fun


Other than that there are no rules. This is a pretty lenient contest.

The characters will be judged in a different manner than normal. The abilities listed above, yes go and read them, are grouped into six categories. These categories are: EARTH, AIR, FIRE, WATER, METAL, and CREATION.
When your character design is complete, look at these categories and decide which one your entry would best fit under. Send me a note with the link to your character, and include the category the entry is in. There will be one character chosen from each elemental category to be the winner of that category. Then these six entries will be put up for public voting, where you will decide the overall best.

Prizes:
The winners from each category will have their character used in The Black Palette manga, but the overall winner will receive a three month subscription. Sound good? Of course it does.
